What You'll Be Able To Do
When the studio opens, here's what becomes possible.
Record Your Own Tracks
Bring your lyrics, your melody, your vision. Work with experienced guidance to capture it properly. Walk out with something you can share with pride.
Learn Music Production
Beat-making, mixing, understanding what makes a track work. Learn from people who know the craft, using professional equipment.
Develop Your Sound
This isn't about making everyone sound the same. It's about helping each artist find and refine their unique voice, their signature, what makes them them.
Create Something Real
No more phone recordings. No more "good enough." Create work that represents what you're actually capable of.
Why This Matters
St Leonards has strong creative culture but limited outlets, especially for older youth. We have young people with genuine talent and nowhere professional to develop it. We have stories that need to be told, voices that deserve to be heard properly.
The Space
The studio occupies the basement of what was once an electronics store on King's Road, now home to an art gallery above. It's a fitting location (creativity above and below), accessible from the street, right in the heart of our community.
Control Room
Where production happens. Mixing, editing, bringing the vision together. The technical heart of the studio.
Live Room
Where the recording happens. The performance, the energy, the magic. Space to move, collaborate, create.
Vocal Booth
Where vocals get captured cleanly. Where every word is heard. Isolated, focused, professional.
We're building this properly, with guidance from people who know what artists need, what works, what doesn't.
Who Is This For?
The Kings Rd Music Studio is being built for a broad range of creators (primarily teens and young adults), but welcoming anyone in our community with something to say and the desire to say it well.
You don't need:
- Previous studio experience
- Expensive equipment of your own
- A finished product ready to record
- To be "discovered" or "professional"
You do need:
- Something you want to create
- Willingness to learn and work
- Respect for the space and the craft
- To be part of our community
Whether you're recording your first track or your fiftieth, whether you produce grime or something we haven't heard yet, whether you're sure of your talent or just curious (this space is being built with you in mind).
Where We Are Now
The space has been secured. The structure has been gutted and is now being plastered and painted. Soon comes the installation (the equipment, the acoustic treatment, the technology that will turn an empty basement into a creative hub).
We're in the final stretch. The studio manager is in place (more details to come). Professional musicians and engineers are involved.
Opening: Early 2026
Be Part of the Story
The Kings Rd Music Studio is a community project in the truest sense. While we're not ready to share all operational details yet, we will be looking for artists to help us test the space, community members to support what we're building, and everyone who believes our young people deserve this.
